ABOUT

Drawing on the fascination for flower arranging that emerged in the years following World War II, the Hampshire Decoration Society was founded in 1954. In 1960 the society became the Flower Arrangement Association of Wessex and then renamed Wessex & Jersey Area of NAFAS in 1982.

The Area Newsletter, Window on Wessex is published four times a year. The magazine contains essential Area and National information for its members. The first Junior Flower Clubs were set up in 2000 in Jersey to encourage young people to get involved in floral design and this offers great promise for NAFAS in the coming years.

Since it’s inception, the Area has been represented in a number of flower festivals including Winchester, Salisbury and Portsmouth Cathedrals raising money for worthy causes. To encourage more people to get involved, the Wessex & Jersey Area of NAFAS organises training programmes for demonstrators, judges and speakers, enabling the skills learnt to be shared amongst the Area.

From five enthusiastic groups in 1954, the area now consists of 51 Clubs and around 2500 members.
